Fifth Grade Language Arts

What’s Happening in Class?
·         Bible: We begin a study on the life of Moses.
Memory verse for January 29th is: Hebrews 11: 24-26 “By faith Moses, when he had grown up,  refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”

·         Reading: This week we will complete reading and discussing, Crispin. Last week we paused on reading for a couple of lessons to work on our whimsical tree winter art project. Today we resume reading Crispin; we should finish today or tomorrow.  I will be giving students details about our Renaissance Street Fair this week.

·         Language Arts: Last week we began a grammar study of identifying parts of speech within a sentence. Thus far we have covered nouns and pronouns and will continue to work through these packets in class. This week we will be working on identifying adjectives and adverbs.

·         Spelling and Vocabulary:  Wordly Wise lesson 8 exercises D and E will be due on Wednesday, January 22nd. The test for Wordly Wise lesson 8 will be this week on January 22nd.   Spelling homework lesson 14 and words 3x each will be due on January 22nd. We will also have our test for spelling on this day.
