Reading
- We are almost finished with our first novel, Tale of Despereaux.
- Yesterday we had the first solo comprehension quiz. The students read the chapters from Despereaux and then answered some discussion questions on their own from the reading. Students were allowed to use their books for reference sake during the quiz.
- This week we will probably make it through chapter 40 and finish the book next week.
Spelling and Vocabulary
- We are currently starting chapter six of spelling today. It is a review lesson. Students have been asked to pick twenty words from these lessons that need more practice. Those twenty words will be the words they write for the 3x each practice this week. Homework will be due and the we will test on this unit on Wednesday, 10/17
- We have also just finished up lesson five from Wordly Wise! This is very exciting news for the students because we only cover 5 lessons each quarter. There will be no more Wordly Wise lessons or homework until November 7th!
- In the upcoming weeks we will use this extra time for creative writing.
- We will still have spelling homework each week.
Grammar
- We are still working on our current unit of Sentence Variety
