·        Reading and Writing
Students are currently reading biographies of their choice in class for a book report presentation which will be due February 20th. This reading assignment will integrate reading, writing and social studies. The final project is due February 20th. The project has three parts, each worth 100 points for a total of 400 points. Rough drafts of timeline and notes in reading journal are 100 points, the final timeline is 100 points, the comparison and contrast essay of student and biographical character is 100 points, and the biography the student writes about another student is 100 points.
Students will be creating event/timelines for their biography choices in class over the next couple of weeks as they finish reading their books. This will be a mixed media art project as well! I’m very excited to see the results. I will hang them in the hallway when we finish. And just for fun, we will have a literary contest. The most creative and well-written biography the students write about one another will receive a gift certificate. Students are voting on gift certificate ideas!
