What’s Happening in Class?

·        Bible
Memory verse I John 1:4-5 ESV version
quiz will be on Friday, December 19th

·        Spelling and Vocabulary
Please note: This week we have a little different schedule. On Wednesday, we will be working in the morning on Exploravision projects from 8:45-11:35, therefore, I am moving both the spelling and Wordly Wise homework and tests to Thursday instead of Wednesday this week. I am not assigning new lessons over the break.
Spelling lesson 11 and words 3x each and Wordly Wise lesson 5 D&E will be due Thursday, December 18th. Spelling test for lesson 11 and Wordly Wise test lesson 5 will also be on December 18th.

·        Science
·        Mrs. West’s girls’ science and Mrs. Carrillo’s boys’ science classes will be having an Exploravision extended planning time. On Wednesday, December 17th we will be working solely on our innovation projects from 8:45-11:35am. Please make sure that your student is prepared for class and has pertinent information for their project printed out to bring to class for this work session, so as to make the best use of their time. This would also be an awesome time for any parent coaches or mentors who would like to assist in this process to volunteer in the classroom.
Please email me at dawncarrillo@me.com if you are interested and want to know more.

·        Language Arts and Writing
I will also be dedicating time in writing this quarter for the innovation science fair as there is a lot of expository writing students must do for this project. Students need to bring any printed information from the internet to work on their projects to writing class each day.

·        Reading
Our next novel study is a realistic fiction. We are currently reading Wednesday Wars, by Gary Schmidt. This week we will be reading the chapter of April and May, and working on character sketches.

·        Christmas Gift Exchange
This Friday we will be having a Christmas Party and gift exchange. Students may bring treats for the party such as cookies, cupcakes, chips, veggies, milk, juice, etc…. no soda please! The students who will be here would also like to have a gift exchange. If your student would like to participate, please have them bring a gift of $5. Boys bring a boy’s gift and Girl’s bring a girl’s gift.
