Thoughts on Preparing Spiritually for Mountain School

As the physical preparations for camp at Mountain School are being finalized, I begin to turn my thoughts toward the mental and spiritual preparation Kim and I will be doing with the students over the next couple of days before we leave. Your children are about to embark on adventure that will create memories to last a lifetime. While the study of the North Cascades ecosystems will be an invaluable experience in the domain of science, first and foremost, it is our hearts desire to see God reveal himself through nature to each and every student on our journey.

Psalms 119:1 says,

19 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
    whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

I truly believe if our students are aware of God's presence in their personal life, then they can begin to seek what His plan and purpose is for their life. I ask you to join me in praying that God will use our scientific explorations to reveal His existence and His nature to our students.
