Fifth Grade Language Arts

What’s Happening in Class?  

·          Bible: We continue our study on the Israelite's journey to Canaan this week.

Memory Verse for March 5th

Exodus 15:2

“The Lord is my strength and my defense;
    he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
    my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

The Lord reigns
    for ever and ever.”

·         Reading: This week we will be reading and discussing chapters 14-20 of Bud, Not Buddy.

·         Language Arts: Students will continue working in pairs during class on the expository writing project for science; we are currently integrating science with the students’ writing. The students should be able to complete their writings by the end of next week. I will monitor their progress in class because it is not my intention to assign this for homework.

·         Spelling and Vocabulary:  Wordly Wise lesson 11 exercises D and E will be due on Wednesday, March 5^th. The test for Wordly Wise lesson 11 will be this Wednesday. Spelling homework lesson 20 and words 3x each will be due on March 5^th.  The spelling test will also be on this day.

·          Science:  The boy’s science class of robotics is moving right along. The next stage of programming will begin soon. Currently the boys are programming in teams. We are all learning so much, and I am so astounded how quickly the students have picked up these skills! Keep watching the website for new pictures and videos; we love sharing these!
