Fifth Grade Language Arts Update for February 6th

The fifth graders and I had a meeting about the afternoon schedule for band and we have come to a decision, a decision they agreed to follow. Here are the results.... They agreed they would rather have homework for reading to makeup than a writing lesson to makeup for homework. This means whatever they miss during band will be for reading instead of writing. This means we have to have our writing lesson at 2:15 when band members return to class. Everyone agreed to be alert and work diligently if we have a writing lesson at 2:15pm. We shall see! I let them vote on it so maybe I will get more cooperation that way. Typically, it has not worked in the past to have a new concept or lesson introduced at that time of day, so we shall see.

In the meantime, students in band missed reading Bud, Not Buddy, pages 30-41 with us in class today. This is what the band students need to do to be caught up with the rest of the class for tomorrow.
