Sixth Grade Language Arts News

Reading: Over the next couple of weeks, the sixth grade students and I will be reading, Hook Line and Seeker, by Jim Arnosky, a beginner's guide to fishing, boating and watching water wildlife. This nonfiction study will be a great follow-up to Mountain School and an asset in transitioning students to the nonfiction writing we will be doing for future field studies in science.

Writing: This week students will be working on a narrative about Mountain School. They will have class time to work on this assignment. Today they had 45 minutes of class time after our lesson about writing a narrative to work on the rough draft. The narratives are to be at least 350 words, and typed narratives need to be double spaced. Narratives need a title also. These will be graded as a writing test grade.

Spelling and Wordly Wise: Spelling Lesson 9 and Wordly Wise Lesson 5 will be introduced on Wednesday, November 6th and will be due on Wednesday, November 13th. We will also test for these lessons on that day.
