Sixth Grade Language Arts March 6th-13th

Spelling and Wordly Wise

  • On Wednesday 3/6, Spelling lesson 22 was introduced. The homework will be due on Wednesday 3/13.
  • Spelling test on lesson 22 will be on Wednesday 3/13.
  • There will be no more Wordly Wise lessons assigned again until Wednesday 3/27--- Please do not work ahead. Students who work ahead typically don't want to listen when I'm introducing the new lesson to the class, and they may miss things I want to point out.

Writer's Workshop
  • Writer's workshop is progressing very well! The students come excited and ready to write about their lives and experiences. That means it's a success!
  • I will be asking students to pick which writings they would like to show in their portfolios, which I will be sharing with you at conference time in April.

Reading
  • On Monday 3/4, we finished reading chapter 8 of Roll of Thunder,
  • On Tuesday 3/5, chapter 9 vocabulary was introduced in class, and we began to read and discuss Chapter 9 as well.
  • On Wednesday, we completed reading Chapter 9.

Science
  • On Tuesday 3/5, we read pages 263-271 in class together. Workbook pages 171,172 were assigned for homework. These will be due on Tuesday, 3/12.
  • On Thursday 3/7, Mrs. West will be introducing the materials and instructions for science projects during class. We want to get this information out early even though projects and science fair isn't until May. We want everyone to have plenty of time to conduct experiments and develop ideas for a quality project! This allows students approximately two months to complete their projects! Happy researching! :)
