Sixth Grade Language Arts February 25-March 1

Reading
  • On Monday 2/25, we read chapter 6 of Roll of Thunder.
  • On Monday 2/25, chapter 6 vocabulary was introduced.
  • On Tuesday 2/26, we discussed Elements of a story with regard to Roll of Thunder. Students were given a handout/ outline for this in class. This assignment will be due Friday, 3/1.
  • On Tuesday 2/26, students took an open book/open note comprehension test on Roll of Thunder.
  • On Thursday 2/28, Students were given a reading assignment which will be due on Tuesday, 3/5. Read chapter 7 of Roll of Thunder and follow the student directives to complete a summary of the chapter.
  • On Friday 3/1, Library time and Free Reading Friday. Complete reading logs.
Writer's Workshop
  • On Monday 2/25, students were re-introduced to writer's workshop. The minilesson for the day focused on my expectations for what the students are to accomplish during the workshop.
  • On Tuesday 2/26, minilesson for writer's workshop focused on "What do I need to do before a writing conference?" 
Spelling and Vocabulary
  • Spelling lesson 20 is due Wednesday 2/27
  • Wordly Wise lesson 14 is due Wednesday 2/27
  • Spelling and Wordly Wise test is on Wednesday 2/27
  • On Wednesday 2/27 Spelling and Wordly Wise Test
  • On Wednesday 2/27 New spelling lesson 21 and Wordly Wise lesson 15 was introduced for next week's homework.
Science
  • On Tuesday 2/26, students worked with a partner to read, review and research in completing the study guide pages 167,168. Most students were able to complete the assignment within the class period. This assignment is due Thursday, 2/28.
  • On Thursday 2/28 Students corrected pages 167,168 in class.
  • On Friday 3/1 Students viewed a video on the planets, comprehension quiz followed at the end.
