Classwork for the week of September 26th

Sixth Grade
9/26 Grammar Skills workbook pages 21,22 (Colons and Semicolons)
         Read Chapter 4 (Away in a Manger) together in A Year Down Yonder.
9/27 Grammar Skills workbook pages 23,24 (Colons and Semicolons)
         Read Chapter 5 (Hearts and Flour) independently in A Year Down Yonder.
         Reading Comprehension Quiz on Chapter 5.
         Students were given 20 min of "study hall" time to work on homework and
         catch up on assignments.
9/28  Spelling Test and Wordly Wise Test Lesson 3 were given today.
         Reading- Students completed reading comprehension quizzes.Reading homework
                        is due tomorrow, 9/29.
         Writing- Girls writing class was assigned a formal narrative writing assignment. Topic
                       is, "Stories from Camp." Rough draft is due Wednesday, 10/5
 9/29 Reading-Introduced "Mowgli's Brothers" for next week's homework. Literature
          Lesson on Character Analysis pages 133-136 from Reading Book.
         Graded this week's homework from "Aunt Mazey Ain't Crazy" in class.
         Grammar-corrected pgs 23&24 on Punctuating Dialogue. Started pgs 25&26 on
         Quotation Marks and Italics. What is not finished in class becomes homework.
         Writing- Boys writing class was assigned a formal narrative writing assignment. Topic
                       is "Stories from Camp." Rough draft is due Thursday, 10/6
          Literature Studies- A Year Down Yonder we began reading "A Dangerous Man" pages 94-103.
9/30  Writing- Students were given class time from 9:00-9:45 to work on the rough draft of their
                       narrative essay, "Stories from Camp." Essay rough drafts are to be completed in the
                       writing journal. Girls' drafts due 10/5 and Boys' drafts due 10/6.
          Reading- Library and free reading today. Reading Log Book check= 25points Today.
