Fifth Grade Language Arts January 27th-31st

What’s Happening in Class?

·         Bible: We begin a study on the life of Moses.
Memory verse for January 29th is: Hebrews 11: 24-26 “By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”

·         Reading: This week we will complete our last chapter of, Crispin.
Students may be talking to you about making a craft to sell at our renaissance market or they may be asking about a renaissance costume. Please don’t stress or feel the need to go out and buy things that you don’t already have.  This is meant to be a fun activity to get students to use their creativity without spending money. On Friday afternoon, January 31st, we will be celebrating our reading of Crispin, with a “renaissance street market.”  We will be setting up the desks for “market” in the classroom, and students will have the opportunity to visit each other’s desk or table to purchase crafts from each other with coins.  Students have voted to give the money that we earn during the market to either our World Vision kids or Mr. Sorrell. Students can choose who they want to give to.

·         Spelling and Vocabulary:  Wordly Wise lesson 9 exercises A, B and C will be due on Wednesday, January 29th. The test for Wordly Wise lesson 9 will be this week on February 5th.   Spelling homework lesson 15 and words 3x each will be due on January 29th. We will also have our spelling test on this day.
