Spelling-
- Spelling test for Lesson 7 on Wednesday, October 24th.
- Spelling Lesson 8 will be due on Wednesday, October 31st.
Grammar-
- We are still working on Sentence Variety and combining choppy sentences. This week we will be working on pages 109-114 in the Grammar Skills Workbook.
Reading-
- We started reading a new novel on Monday, October 22nd. The Whipping Boy is the timeless story of the Prince and the Pauper revised and rewritten, with a twist of course, from the author Sid Fleishmen. Although the book and chapters are quite short, this story is chocked full of rich and unusual vocabulary.
- Yesterday, October 23rd, I gave students a packet with vocabulary words from the story, and I also gave them a packet of comprehension questions for chapters 1-5 of the story. My challenge to the students was to use as many vocabulary words from the book list when they write the answers to their questions. We began work on this in class. The comprehension questions will be due on Friday, October 26th. Students will have time to work on this in class, however, they are allowed to take the assignment home if they need extra time.
- We will also be mixing science and reading this week as the students continue to develop their referencing and researching skills. Today, October 24th, students will work on worksheets from their workbooks. These worksheets will become study guides to help students prepare for the science test which will be next Thursday, November 1st. These science study guides will be due on Tuesday, October 30th.
