What’s Happening in Class?
·        Bible
Memory verse: I Thessalonians 4:7,8  ESV version
Quiz will be on Friday, May, 29th.

·        Spelling and Vocabulary
Spelling lesson 26 and Wordly Wise Lesson 12 will be due and tested this week on Thursday, May 28th. That is the same day as passport, but the students voted for that day since it is our last spelling and Wordly Wise lesson.

·        Science
The garden planning is a little slower than expected, but if anything is worth doing… It is worth doing right! Hopefully we will finish before school is out. Grant Lindstrom and Todd Kassler have graciously volunteered to prep the area for the beds and will assist the boy’s science class as they build the beds. Lord willing we will have this finished before the end of the year! We will be gardening this summer in our new raised beds, and we do have a one week STEM camp designed around gardening from July 20th-July 24th. Hope to see you in the garden this summer.

·        Reading
We will be finishing up Bomb in the next couple of weeks. Students will also continue to have opportunities to raise their reading grades on comprehension tests.

·        Writing
Students will be presenting their writing projects in class on Wednesday, and Friday of this week.

What’s Happening in Class?  April 27th-May1st
·        Bible
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:8,9 ESV version
Quiz will be on Friday, May, 1st.

·        Spelling and Vocabulary
Spelling lesson 22 will be assigned on Wednesday, April 29th, and it will be due on Wednesday, May 6th. Wordly Wise exercises D and E will be due on May 6th as well. Both Wordly Wise and Spelling lesson 22 will be tested on May 6th. There is no spelling or Wordly Wise due this week.

·        Science
This Thursday, April 30th the boys’ science class has the project board and model/prototype of their inventions due for Invention Convention, which is on Friday, May 1st. The boards are being assembled in class, no problem!
The part that is getting down to the wire is their models/ prototypes. I’m a little nervous about these getting completed. The boys need to bring materials they still need for their models to class tomorrow. These do not have to be working models/prototypes, just a 3D labeled model of their invention. I will be giving them time to work on this in class, and I am willing to stay after school so teams can use the classroom to get this project completed. I will be staying until 5:00pm for any teams that want to work together on Tuesday and Thursday.  Grades will be adversely affected by incomplete projects.

·        STEM community garden
Two weeks ago the sixth grade students planted seeds for a community garden that we are creating. We planted organic beans, spinach, tomatoes, zucchini, squash and four types of lettuce. Our sprouts are growing in our windows! We need a place to plant our starter plants!

A local businessman, Greg Hayes, has donated lumber, soil, and rocks we will need to build four raised beds. The lumber for our beds is being milled and will be ready by the end of the week. We need some volunteers to help us see this project through. We need the lumber to be picked up from the mill and delivered to school. We need some volunteers who know how to build raised beds to show our students how these can be built, and involve students in the building. I will be there to assist also!

If you are willing to volunteer to help us see our project through, please contact me at either (425)239-1760 or dawncarrillo@me.com .
