Week of October 14th-17th Fifth Grade News

What’s Happening in Class?

·         Bible:  Memory verse quiz will be this Wednesday, October 16th. The students will write the verse for their quiz.
Our verse is, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
                          II Corinthians 5:17

·         Reading: We have completed Tale of Despereaux! Many good discussions about characters and their traits took place during the reading of this book! I am pleased with the level of deep understanding and comprehension the students exhibited in relation to this novel study. Upon completion of the book reading, we as a class want to have a culminating celebration! (Not to be confused with a party) The fifth grade class will be having a “King’s banquet!” Students are invited to participate in many ways, but not required. Our celebration will take place on Friday afternoon, October 25th, starting at 1:30. We will be having soup and cake. Students will be allowed to dress in character for the party. They will need to bring their costume and wear regular school clothes in the morning. Characters include: a king, a princess, and a mouse with very big ears, some rats, and a serving girl who wants to be a princess, a chef, a jailer, and a knight! Students are allowed to be any of these characters.  It is in the book…if you are curious, you’ll just have to read the book! Students are also allowed to bring cake or soup or drinks (no soda) or paper products (bowl, cups, spoons, white table cloths or napkins) for the banquet. Soup can be brought in a crock pot or any container that can be heated in the microwave. Please do not send cans of soup without a container to heat it. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside our classroom, so we don’t have repeat or missing items. J Please email me if you have any questions! dcarrillo@foundationcampus.org
