Fifth Grade Language Arts December 12/10-12/14

Reading

• We will be finishing The Family Under the Bridge, this week. There will be vocabulary and essay questions for students to complete in class.
• Any unfinished work should be completed at home that evening and brought to school the following day.
• Tuesday,12/11, students had 35minutes of class time to look up vocabulary words in class.
•  We will begin Christmas Stories for Kids, after completing our novel study. Students will be reading short narratives from this book to get ideas for writing a Christmas narrative of their own.

Spelling and Vocabulary

• This week's spelling assignment is lesson 13. Wordly Wise is lesson 9.
• The homework will be due and tests will be on Wednesday, 12/12.
• Students had 45minutes of study hall time on Tuesday afternoon, 12/11. (with the exception of boys in basketball)

Creative Writing

• This week students will be writing a Christmas narrative in class. The narrative will be due on Friday, 12/14. Students are given time daily to work toward finishing the narrative after the writing lesson.
